Rules to apply for part-time jobs in UAE
- Any person residing in UAE and taking up part-time jobs in UAE should have a temporary work permit for part-time jobs only. This is issued by the Ministry of Labour or Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).
- In order to do part-time jobs in UAE, the candidate should be an UAE resident, should be above 18 years of age, irrespective whether he or she is employed or unemployed.
- There are provisions of youngsters in the age group of 15 to 18 years of age to do part-time jobs in UAE provided they show work permits where parents are work sponsors.
- For residents in UAE who are already employed and are in full time jobs can do part-time jobs during Weekends or after office hours, provided the employer must be registered with MOHRE.
Documents to be submitted to do part-time jobs in UAE
No Objection Certificate
Employees who are interested to do part-time jobs in UAE should obtain a “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” from their full-time employer who is also their sponsor. The employee should be registered under the MOHRE and is a resident of UAE. NOC from family like as parents/husband is required for residents sponsored by family. Employees should also note that their residency should be valid for more than 6 months before applying for part-time jobs in UAE.

At the same time, it is the duty of the prospective part-time employer to issue a NOC so that both the parties know the exact work or residency situations of the part-time job applicant.
Once the NOC statements are collected, the prospective employer has to apply for the work permit of the part-time employees, which is valid for a period of 6 months.
Note for invalidity
- Part-time jobs in UAE cannot be taken up by people who are on tourist visa.
- Also, residents above 65 years of age cannot apply for part-time jobs in UAE.
- It is also to be noted that the work permit allows residents to work for organizations registered under the Ministry of Labour on a part-time basis and not for any trading and business activity. This has to be done through proper channels of licensing and government approvals.
Cost for NOCs and work permits
To do part-time jobs in UAE, there is a cost involved. The company who hires the employee in a part time job has to bear the cost of application and the permit, the cost of which is Dh100 and Dh500, respectively. There is no inclusion of Tasheel processing fees here.
